The Mill on the Floss - by George Eliott

Discussion led by Diane Drake accompanied by refreshments of tea and scones.

First published in 19th century England, The Mill on the Floss sympathetically portrays the efforts of Maggie Tulliver to adapt to her provincial world. However, her brother Tom, despite his love for her, frustrates her attempts to use her intelligence and imagination. It's a novel about family love and the frustrations that such love can create.
